The interactive editor loads with JavaScript. You can read the guide below without it.
View My JSON is a browser-based workspace for reading, formatting, validating, comparing, and exploring JSON (JavaScript Object Notation). JSON is a text format commonly used to exchange settings and data between applications and APIs. Its nested braces and brackets can be difficult to scan in a single line, so the viewer presents valid data in a readable editor and visual layouts such as cards, tables, and a tree. Core editing and viewing happen in your browser; you do not need an account to try them.
For example, a compact response such as
{"name":"Mira","role":"designer","active":true,"skills":["research","prototyping"]}
can be formatted to make each field easier to inspect. A table view is useful when the
document contains a list of similar objects; a tree is useful when you need to follow
nested values. Choose the view that answers your question rather than changing the data’s
structure just to make it easier to read.
{
"name": "Mira",
"role": "designer",
"active": true,
"skills": ["research", "prototyping"]
}
JSON syntax is strict. A missing comma between properties or array items is a frequent
cause of a parse error; add the comma after each item except the last one. Property names
and text values need double quotes, so replace single quotes with double quotes. JSON does
not allow comments, trailing commas, undefined values, or unquoted property names. For
example, {"name": "Mira",} is invalid because of the comma before the
closing brace. Remove it, then validate again. If an error points to a later line than the
actual mistake, check the line just above it: a missing quote or bracket can shift where
parsing fails.
JSON types also matter when interpreting results. Strings use quotes, numbers do not,
booleans are the lowercase values true and false, and an empty
value is written as null. Arrays use square brackets and objects use curly
braces. A formatter can improve whitespace, but it cannot decide whether a value has the
right meaning for your application; compare the data with the API or schema that produced
it.
Normal paste, edit, format, and view workflows run in the browser and do not upload your JSON to View My JSON servers. Avoid putting secrets into any online tool unless you have reviewed its data-handling practices and are comfortable doing so.
Yes. Core viewing, editing, formatting, and validation features are available without an account. Some advanced features may have separate availability or plan requirements.
Check the reported location and the line immediately before it for missing commas, quotes, or closing brackets. Also remove comments, trailing commas, and single-quoted strings; those are not part of standard JSON.
Yes. Select the Table view. Arrays of objects with similar fields are especially suitable because each object can be read as a row and its properties as columns.
Open Compare and enter the original document on one side and the revised document on the other. The comparison view helps you locate differences without manually scanning both files.
